South Haven, named for its location relative to the city of Grand Haven, is one of Lake Michigan's best waterfront towns. Located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Black River, South Haven has an abundance of sparkling water and sandy beaches and offers a wide variety of activities year round. The downtown area is a favorite shopping spot, with its unique beach town-like atmosphere, in well-preserved Victorian style architecture. A walk along the waterfront from atop the downtown hill to the old red lighthouse at the end of the pier is a great way to experience this town's nautical flavor while getting your exercise. Summer time is when it really shines with beach fun, fishing, golfing and shopping or enjoying the Blueberry Festival. South Haven also has a deep water harbor where you can moor your boat and enjoy all that the downtown has to offer.
